I recently came across the book The New Automation Mindset by Vijay Tella . It emphasizes that a mindset rooted in automation is crucial for leveraging AI and related technologies to achieve differentiation and efficiency. The book also explores common use cases where companies struggle to fully automate processes.
At The Digital Loom (@TheDigitalLoom), we are applying our extensive experience in managing middle and back-office systems for large enterprises to address process related opportunities with an automation first mindset. We utilize Low Code/No Code and AI-based technologies to solve process related opportunities. Based on our extensive work, here are some of the insights:
-
Automation & Orchestration Layer: Middle and back-office systems will always require an Automation & Orchestration layer to perform activities across numerous integrated and non-integrated enterprise systems. This layer needs to be agile, adapting swiftly to changes driven by internal or external requirements.
-
Low Code/No Code Solutions: A Low Code/No Code automation and orchestration layer democratizes automation, allowing the non-technical users to contribute to digital transformation.
-
Documenting and Codifying Processes: As Automation and Orchestration is deployed, it supports analysis and documentation of existing processes. Majority of time critical process knowledge resides with subject matter experts; capturing and documenting this knowledge creates opportunities for its codification and automation. This sets the stage for using Generative AI based process modernization.
-
Integrating Automation with Communication Systems: Our hypothesis is that integrating Low Code/No Code-based automation with communication technologies (such as email and chat) used by customers and employees will bring exponential efficiency to middle and back-office operations. Generative AI based enhancements will help in increasing efficiencies.
